Geeks are totally loveable. And hey—they’re not only geeks. Many of them will be the men to solve the energy crisis and find the cure for cancer. But that requires a lot of thinking. These guys can be always in their own head. Their schooling can condition them to be that way. But when you take them to a party, they stand dumbfounded at your side. And over time, your friends feel like they don’t know the man you are with at all. He is sweet, he means well, and you two have the best conversations alone. The anarchist

They don’t all wear the “Hi my name is Jason and I’m an anarchist” name tag, but the signs pop up pretty quickly. Pretty much, the guy who creates a scene anytime he sees an employee in a restaurant being even mildly mistreated by a boss. Or the man who forces another man out of his seat on the bus so he can give it to an old lady. The man who is always on the look out for what is wrong in society and how to fix it. The man who always has a point to prove. It’s one thing to be caring—to care that some poor waiter is being yelled at by his boss or that an old woman has to stand for 5 minutes on the bus—but there comes a point when he isn’t caring about you anymore. The family man

And I don’t mean the guy who wants to build a family. I mean the guy whose already-existing family is constantly present. The guy who needs to stop by his parent’s home every single day if one of them has a cold. Or the guy who spends hours on end for weeks planning a surprise party for his parents each and every celebration—including anniversary parties every ¼ of a year. I’ll just say it: he is too close to his family.
